I`ve been asked a lot about how our Summer nights are. We live too far to the south in Norway to actually have the sun up at midnight but that doesn`t mean it gets dark. Now that it`s just a little over a week until Midsummer, our nights are pretty light.

My husband made a time-lapse of a night at our cabin close to Lillehammer this weekend so you can see for yourself. At around four the fog rolled in but it was still light. You can follow the time down at the left corner.

  1. Wow! As gorgeous as it is, I don’t know if I could sleep well if it didn’t get any darker than that. Or do you get used to it and just sleep because you’re exhausted, even if the light is out?

Let me put it like this – curtains that don`t let in any light are very popular here ๐Ÿ˜€
The main problem is really getting to bed. You have to check your watch all the time to see if it`s time for bed and if you`re enjoying a night out (and I mean outside) with friends, you`ll forget all about checking your watch.
But it`s nice with some sun after a long dark winter!

Wow, like magic. J (myvikingboyfriend) and I will be there soonest. Save us some herring.
I always sleep more lightly in the summer could be the light, could be the heat.

*buys extra glasses of herring* Check! Remember to stop by for the herring ๐Ÿ˜‰
At least you won`t have to worry about the heat here ๐Ÿ˜€

It’s really amazing. I guess kids can’t use the excuse that it’s still light outside, and don’t want to go to bed.
I would love it in the summer. Winter, no way.

    1. thyra10 says:

      No, that`s a poor excuse ๐Ÿ™‚

I`m definitely fine with Summer but November is looooong (it gets darker and darker and usually no snow yet to light up the streets).

Just amazing! I’d love to see it in person one day.

Hop on a plane but remember to bring both sun screen lotion and a raincoat. A Scandinavian summer is both sun and rain – often within the same hour ๐Ÿ˜‰

I did notice how it was darker at 4am than at 2am, thanks to the fog!

      2. thyra10 says:

Yes, it would be quite bright at 4 am if it hadn`t been for the fog ๐Ÿ™‚

Hey! Sorry that this isn’t about the post: I wanted to ask whether I can post a picture on tumblr linking to your account? It’s this one http://s906.photobucket.com/user/Nordanswede/media/BILLFILMAVIS10001.jpg.html?sort=3&o=2 Would that be okay?

I`m so sorry. For some reason I never saw this one. But you`re more than welcome to link to this ๐Ÿ˜€
